The distillery required a critical upgrade to its HV transformer and LV panel during the annual energy centre shutdown. Timing was crucial, with operations needing to resume immediately after the holiday period. The client needed a partner with long-standing site knowledge, technical authority, and the ability to coordinate multiple supply chain partners under strict deadlines. Space restrictions and access issues added complexity, demanding precision planning and execution.
Quartzelec leveraged its 15-year on-site presence and HV maintenance expertise to prepare thoroughly ahead of the shutdown. Site investigations and preparatory works ensured a smooth power-down at 1800hrs on Friday. Engineers removed cables ranging from 6mm 3 core to 300mm 4 core to enable extraction of the old transformer and LV panel. Fabricators reinforced rails and steel frames overnight, allowing installation of the new transformer and panel by Saturday afternoon. Despite space constraints, cable terminations were completed efficiently, and commissioning was achieved well within the allotted time. Power was restored on Bank Holiday Monday, enabling client testing before full operational return on Tuesday. Quartzelec’s proactive planning, supply chain coordination, and technical delivery ensured a right first-time solution.
