TS Metals Strengthens Partnership with WCG Group’s Leamington College to Support Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeships

16 December 2025

Rugby-based TS Metals, part of the Quartzelec group of companies, is reinforcing its commitment to developing engineering talent through a long-standing partnership with Leamington College, part of the WCG Group.

With a strong focus on attracting and nurturing young talent, TS Metals plays a key role in Quartzelec’s extensive apprenticeship programme. Working closely with Leamington College, the company helps train apprentices in welding and fabrication, equipping them with the technical skills and qualifications needed to succeed in the industry.

For many years, TS Metals has supported the college by donating sheet metal for practical training, giving students valuable hands-on experience with real-world materials. This ongoing commitment was recently recognised when Leamington College invited TS Metals to sponsor its Welding and Fabrication Workshop. New signage has now been installed to celebrate the partnership.

Terry Gibbs, who oversees apprentice training at the college, commented:
“I have been working with TS Metals for a few years now and over the last three years they have been supporting us with donations of steel, which is appreciated greatly. We have had the chance to train a lot of their apprentices up to Level 3 City & Guilds, all of which have completed successfully. We are hoping to continue working with TS Metals into the future.”

TS Metals has collaborated with Leamington College since 2007, placing 15 apprentices through its programme. Four apprentices are currently attending college, while others have progressed into key roles within the company - including Valter Bras, now Laser Operations Manager.

Ian Addison, Business Manager for TS Metals, added: “Apprenticeships are at the heart of our business and vital for the future of the engineering sector. Our partnership with Leamington College ensures that young people gain the practical skills and qualifications they need to succeed, while we benefit from a pipeline of talented individuals who grow with us. We’re proud to support the college and look forward to continuing this collaboration for many years to come.”

To mark the occasion, Ian Addison, Valter Bras, and four current apprentices - Cameron Blay, Alfie Ainley, Liam Holt, and Ben Eales - were invited to attend the official opening of the Welding and Fabrication Workshop at Leamington College on Wednesday 19th November, followed by a celebratory lunch.

This partnership reflects TS Metals’ and Quartzelec’s shared commitment to developing the next generation of skilled engineers and fabricators, ensuring the industry continues to thrive.
