Process Lead – Manufacturing Coil


We are seeking a Process Lead – Manufacturing to provide hands-on leadership within our coil manufacturing operations. This role is key to ensuring production activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

You will utilise your technical knowledge and manufacturing expertise to support operational performance, guide team members, and maintain process excellence. In addition, you will deputise for the Supervisor when required, ensuring continuity of operations and effective team leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Environment

Lead by example, maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and quality at all times

Ensure full compliance with H&S procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work

Promote and enforce correct use of PPE and safe working practices

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment

Challenge unsafe behaviours, stop production if required, and escalate concerns appropriately

 

Quality Assurance

Champion a right-first-time manufacturing approach

Ensure coils meet required specifications and quality standards

Oversee inspection and testing processes and support resolution of defects

Review and sign off production and quality documentation for accuracy and compliance

Collaborate with Quality and Technical teams to resolve process issues

Drive waste reduction and efficient use of materials

 

Production & Machinery

Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment, including hand taping

Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and customer specifications

Support efficient changeovers to minimise downtime

Carry out routine machine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance

Maintain production continuity and step into supervisory duties as required

 

Materials, Communication & Reporting

Ensure safe and correct handling of materials and finished products

Provide day-to-day guidance to Senior Operators and Operators

Communicate effectively across teams to maintain workflow

Ensure accurate completion of production, quality, and traceability records

 

Continuous Improvement & Development

Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives

Share knowledge and support development of team members

Participate in ongoing training to maintain advanced capabilities

Support adoption of new technologies and best practices

 

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operations
  • Proven experience working across multiple areas within a production environment
  • Solid knowledge of health & safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and complex work instructions
  • Strong measurement and numeracy skills (e.g. micrometres, Vernier callipers, gauges)
  • Experience supporting or guiding other operators
  • Ability to accurately complete and verify production and quality documentation

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
  • Leadership or line management training
  • Experience in coil manufacturing and hand taping
  • Specialist knowledge of specific machinery or processes
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience
  • Experience deputising for a Supervisor
