Commercial Manager


Quartzelec is a leading UK independent electrical engineering group delivering design, manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and service solutions to customers across a broad range of industrial and commercial sectors.

Reporting to the Business Manager we are now looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Manager at our site in Malaysia.

  

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

  • Manage daily contract activities, focusing on terms & conditions, quotations, project scope, order acknowledgments, procurement, LTSAs, local and Malaysian laws, and coordination between the Business Manager, Contracts Manager, Project Manager, customers, workshop, and site
  • Review and improve processes for data capture, documentation, and record-keeping to increase accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Ensure the Internal Management System (Unit4) updates are completed as per company standards
  • Conduct regular audits on systems and procedures, implement necessary changes, and communicate updates to staff
  • Audit and monitor project hours, addressing delays and driving root cause analyses (RCAs)
  • Work with the Business Manager, Contracts, and Finance Manager to review outstanding debts and plan recovery actions
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure records and reports comply with company and legal requirements, ensuring accuracy and proper storage of documents
  • Review time bookings to meet P&L expectations
  • Inspire team members by communicating goals and identifying training needs
  • Provide quality service by addressing customer contract-related inquiries, ensuring documentation for work in progress, securing customer acknowledgment when no contract is in place, and resolving complaints
  • Review insurance coverage for project locations and special requirements
  • Collaborate with the Business Manager and UK Legal on contractual MOUs, LTSA agreements, and other binding contracts

 

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

We invite applications from individuals who possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant qualification within the Electrical/Electronic discipline. Candidates with demonstrable industry experience in partial discharge will also be considered

  • A degree / HND or equivalent in either Business Management, Economics or law would be beneficial
  • 3+ years’ experience in commercial, financial or business management roles
  • Strong background in contract negotiation and risk management
  • Exhibits leadership qualities to manage a small team
  • Possesses strong teamwork and effective communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
